A USB drive is an excellent way to transfer data from TraCS
Mobile to TraCS Office through the TraCS Start Shift/End Shift process. In
a TraCS implementation, a USB drive is also well suited for the new TraCS Distribution
functionality that allows TraCS updates to be pushed out to TraCS Mobile computers
during a Start Shift procedure. When a wireless network isn't available and floppy
disks are too... well floppy, USB drives are a good alternative. In addition, the TraCS
implementation team in your agency can also use USB drives to store TraCS and related
software as well as drivers for installation, maintenance and support.
A USB drive is about the size of a car
key and connects to the USB port of any computer using operating systems such as
Windows 98, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. In addition, a USB drive usually has Plug-and-Play
functionality for Windows 2000 and XP.
USB drive manufacturers carry varying capacities, features, and pricing.
