CTRE Incident Location Tool |
The Incident Location Tool is a map based utility that can be used to locate where
an incident occured. The Incident Location Tool was designed by Iowa State
University Center for Transportation Research and Education (CTRE) to be used as
either an add-on interface to TraCS or a stand alone application.
Within a TraCS form, a user can choose to launch the Incident Location Tool, navigate to
the correct area, and select the location where the incident occurred. The
relevent location information (e.g., latitude, longitude, road name, etc.)
is then automatically transferred to TraCS via an XML interface and populated onto
the TraCS form. The image below shows the Location Tool displaying a map of
the Des Moines, Iowa area.
Location information captured using the Incident Location Tool is stored in the
TraCS Office database and can be used by the Incident Mapping Tool (IMAT) to create
maps and charts of incidents that occured in the user's jurisdiction.
Currently the Incident Location Tool is being used with TraCS in Iowa, New York,
Georgia, and Delaware.
The current version of the Incident Location Tool is: 4.3.1 If you have a
previous version contact your assigned TraCS supprt person.
